It’s not unreasonable to argue that including underrepresented groups is useful in broadening the array of ideas and insights into scholarship. But recognize that is the logic of DEI. This argument for inclusion seems more persuasive to me when it adds historically underrepresented voices compared to the voices that run most state governments, all three branches of the federal government, and most corporations. But again, power is the point. The political dominance of the Trump administration and red state legislatures, and the money of private donors, ensure they will be heard because of their power, not because they lack power.
